Embracing the Spirit of your Home
Every house has a spirit. I don’t mean a ghost of a predecessor who once lived in the physical there, although some houses do. Here I’m speaking of the energetic being of the house.
Your relationship with your home is reciprocal. Think of a house you lived in that you loved. In turn, they loved you, I am sure. Houses sometimes call you because you fit their blueprint. A house that is dying from sorrow and neglect may attract a new family with vibrancy and vision for what it can return to itself. The spirit of the house wishes to revive to its potential and sees it through a new family’s love, vision, and commitment to home.
A house with history holds imprints of loving times and tragic times. Births and deaths and everything in between. Sometimes it is a new owner that will help heal and clear those tragic imprints, or they may be attracted to its joyful imprints and add to that momentum.
Homes are sentient beings with history, hopes, and futures. A home may be calling you to save it. To love it. To nurture it. And in turn, they will hold you, protect you, nurture you, and yes, love you.
Living in a home is a relationship. I have lived in many. Some I have owned, some I have stewarded for others while renting. Yet, renting a house doesn’t make it less your home. Know that. Honor it as your own.
If a house is calling you, listen. How can you serve it and receive its service? Always treat it with respect and reverence for what it has witnessed, who it has nurtured, and its potential becoming.
Understand, where you live and where you are attracted to living is a mirror of your life and your contribution to life. Treat it accordingly. Whether you rent with a lease or purchase with a deed, know you are making a commitment to the house to create home. Like humans, houses have gifts and flaws. Be kind and compassionate as you care for your home.
Wishing you a most flourishing relationship with the spirit of your home.
